Sjælland og Hovedstaden — the Marguerite Route through Zealand and the capital

Denmark's busiest island packs the most history into the shortest detours: Kronborg at Helsingør — Hamlet's Elsinore — guards the Øresund, the royal cathedral and Viking ships sit at Roskilde, and Frederiksborg's moated palace rises at Hillerød. Between them the Marguerite Route threads beech forests, the Danish Riviera coast and the chalk cliffs of Stevns, all within easy reach of Copenhagen.

The Marguerite Route is Denmark’s 4,203 km signed scenic byway, marked by the brown daisy sign and divided into 8 regional sections. The full route is shown faintly on the map below for context.
